Head to downtown Decatur on Friday, June 15 from 5-11 p.m. for the annual Beach Party, brought to you by the Decatur Business Association. Celebrate the start of summer at the famous Ponce Beach with 60 tons of sand, a kids’ boardwalk with all kinds of fun games, music from Yacht Rock Schooner, dancing on the plaza, and guaranteed great times for all ages!

Join as a volunteer, to help continue to provide the many free events in Decatur, including Concerts on the Square, Blue Sky Concerts, 4th of July Fireworks, Holiday Bonfire & Marshmallow Roast, and the Easter Egg Hunt. The Decatur Business Association also helps pay for many downtown Decatur improvement projects. Volunteers receive free admission to the Decatur Beach Party! The minimum age to volunteer is 14. Please note the new all-inclusive ticket pricing for children this year (

), so they can participate in all of the fun activities at the Children’s Boardwalk area without additional charge. (If you are bringing young children with you, please have a responsible adult with you to watch them while you are volunteering.)

There is something new for 2012, a friendly bit of competition! The group with the most individuals who sign up and work the Beach Party will receive a prize. The prize is a $300 gift certificate to McGowan’s Oakhurst Pub donated by My Own Bookkeeper. (Note: if an individual, please pick a “name” and have all your friends/family/etc sign up under that name to become a “group.”)

There are volunteer opportunities available to fit every schedule. Beat the heat and come early for set up! Set up starts in the morning and runs throughout the day. Evening volunteer opportunities abound at the Children’s Boardwalk Games and Entry Gates. Set Up, Children’s Boardwalk, and Entry Gates are all wonderful group volunteer opportunities – invite family, friends and co-workers to come with you.
