Each year the Atlanta Regional Commission recognizes the efforts of cities and counties to Create Community and selects award winners in 5 different categories. The City of Decatur was recently awarded the Create Community award in the category of Community Involvement and Collaboration for the partnership of the City and the MLKing Jr Service Project. Recognized for their efforts in making the project such a success were Lee Ann Harvey, Volunteer Coordinator for the City, and Patrick Grier (Public Works) and Jabari Cole (Tennis and Aquatics) who served as House Captains for the house sponsored by the City for the MLKProject in 2012.
