Do you love Decatur ?  Then help show it off by joining the 2013 Decatur Holiday Candlelight Tour of Homes committee! The 31st annual event, “A Walk Down Main Street”, is scheduled for December 6-7, 2013 and will feature the Sycamore Historic District, Decatur’s original main thoroughfare. Tour proceeds support community organizations that help make Decatur a wonderful place to live: the Mary Miller Decatur Youth Fund, the Decatur Education Foundation, the DeKalb History Center and the Wylde Center.

If you’re interested in helping plan this annual tradition, we invite you to attend our first Committee meeting on Tuesday, June 11th at 4:30pm at Decatur City Hall.

We are also looking for homes in the Sycamore neighborhoods to showcase on the tour and local businesses to sponsor. Interested homeowners and sponsors can contact Erin Vilines at erinleigh0925@yahoo.com or (404) 861-8726.

Several shuttle stops in Oakhurst will allow residents to come to the downtown Decatur commercial district to take advantage of services, such as grocery stores, pharmacies, medical and dental offices, public library, and government offices. It will provide access to entertainment and cultural opportunities at the Decatur Recreation Center, as well as on the square.

Riders must be Decatur residents aged 60 and older and register to ride the shuttle. Potential continuation of the shuttle will depend on the number of people who use it.
